Leonidas I, a valiant king of Sparta, led his legendary company of Spartans against the vast army of Xerxes I at the gateway of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Though outnumbered, Leonidas and his men fought with unyielding determination, becoming symbols of bravery. Their defense slowed the Persian advance, giving the Greeks precious time to prepare for th
